Target Partners with Gilt Groupe, First Sale is Friday!

Everyone knows Target, duh. Surprisingly and sadly, not many know about Gilt Groupe. On Gilt you have access to the top names in fashion and luxury at up to 70% off retail. Membership is free :) I love free. Invite only, and you’re invited from Karen Lacanilao. You’re welcome.

The members-only shopping site announced its partnership with Target today. What does that mean for us? Well, for starters, Gilt Groupe members get to buy select items from Target’s new Tucker clothing line, Mulberry bags, and John Derian home goods, before anyone else :) The Target Designer Sale on Gilt starts this Friday at noon ET, and Gilt members can expect an advance look at select items from this fall’s three limited-edition designer collections before they arrive in stores.

According to the Gilt Groupe site: “Be among the first to get your hands on Tucker’s dainty tops and ladylike dresses, boasting pretty butterfly and diamond prints; Mulberry’s chic carryalls, from patent satchels to denim cross-bodies; and John Derian’s charming decoupaged tablewares, picture frames and storage bins.”

As a bargain hunter of all things fab, amazing and super cute, I must say that Target has made me a believer. Who shopped at target in the 80s or 90s? Notttt I. Target has completely re-branded themselves over the last three years and has partnered with high profile fashion power houses such as Luella Bartley, Proenza Schouler, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Rodarte, just to name a few. Not surprised that Target chose Gilt for this pre, exclusive, flash sale.

HOLLER: Wal-Mart Cuts iPhone 3GS Price in Half

Wal-Mart has cut the price of the most up-to-date iPhone in half! That’s another sign Apple is getting ready to unveil a new model. Late fall, I’m assuming, just in time for the holidays when most retailers make about 40% of their entire year’s profits. Oh, these retailers, they’ve got us consumers on strings and make us prance around like puppets.

Anywho, I have been getting more and more sucked into this whole techy, geeky, bloggy, social media, on my phone 24/7 scene. Sometimes, I will wake up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and have the urge to check my twitter… yikes!

My contract is expiring soon with T-Mobile, I think July, and yes, I am hopping into the iPhone bandwagon. You cannot beat 97 dollas for an iPhone 3GS 16 Gigs at Walmart, don’t mind if I do. My addiction will be two-fold once I get my hands on this.

Neiman Marcus Tests Discount Concept

Neiman Marcus is testing a new retail concept that is set to fall somewhere between its signature stores and its Last Call outlet stores.

The test location, in the University Park section of Dallas, has brand name merchandise not unlike that carried at a Neiman Marcus department store, but is set up in a less posh environment with fewer salespeople available to assist shoppers. The focus of this shop is on contemporary sportswear, bags and shoes with prices ranging from $45 to $300. While it’s being tested under a “Last Call” storefront, the name will be changed, and the new brand announced soon. Continue reading

Rent The Runway: love. wear. return.

Alright my chicas, I’ve said it, you’ve said it, we’ve all said it: I have nothing to wear.

And really, I need to vent a little here, because of course we HAVE something to wear! It’s just when I wear something twice, even if it has literally been almost a year, someone says to me, “You’ve worn that before!” Oh… my… GOSH! Reallyyyyyyy?? Yeah, of course you’ve seen me wear this before, like a year ago… you creeper!

That is why I love fast, cheap fashion chains like Forever 21, H&M, Pink Zone, Charlotte Russe, etc. because I buy $15 dresses, wear ‘em once or twice, maybe thrice, then toss. Or I’ll store it away for several months in hopes of recycling one day. Right? You do that, too.

Style.com Balmain Spring 2010 RTW

But of course, I have always dreamed of wearing designer couture dresses like Furstenberg, Dior, Balmain, Gaultier, Vuitton, Jacobs, Marni, Miu Miu… just to name a few.

I am a struggling student (cliche) and don’t have the resources to buy a $900 dress, only to just wear it once. Seriously, if I buy a $900 dress, I will wear that damn dress everyday for a year! Even when I go to bed! Which comes out to about $2.50 per wear, which is my ideal per wear price range. And go ahead, I don’t care if you tell me, “You’ve worn that before!”

You guys already know I am an Avelle customer; it is just so ideal for a fickle fashion fiend like myself. Fickle is a word I like to use in place of non-committal; it sounds more fun, talk about euphemism. Rent a purse, be fab, return. Rent another purse, be fab, return. You get the idea.

What a brilliant idea for all of us non-co… I mean, fickle fashion fiends.

Women can only wear something for so long, or so short I should say, because of the fashion industry’s planned obsolescence. It is a sneaky consumer trend cycle.

So, check it! RENT THE RUNWAY!

My answers to all of the questions above: OMG!

Some snobby chicks might be like, ewww, renting a dress, that’s gross. Well, you are one of those chicks that buy a designer dress from Nordy’s, wear them with the tags still on, and return them the next day! So, you are gross and cheap!

Legally wearing designer dresses from Rent the Runway for 10% of the retail price? Um, hells double yah!! Where do I sign-up?
