DTLA Artwalk & VB’s Birthday Celebration

I didn’t bring my cam this night, but enjoy these photos taken by all these awesome people!

Photos are linked to prospective albums pulled from.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THEE VICTORIA BERRY :)

Can I just take a normal picture? Probably not likely. I’ve been obsessing over accessories for my head. I think I’ve played out all my hats and headbands in most photo ops lately, so I decided to wrap a leopard print scarf (via Express) around my dome because I think turbans are half amazing and half culturally beautiful.

Prada’s 2007 silk turban collection

I am very intrigued by this underrated trend. I love it, it’s so beautiful.

What other things can I put on my head? I’m also in love with my black tank top with ostrich feathers via TopShop. I will never get over animal prints and furry/feathery things… and shiny things.

LA Inspiration’s One Year Anni @ SIXHUNDRED

Only a lady this cute and adorable and wonderful and fun, and about a billion other fabulous adjectives, can justify celebrating their one year bloggerversary. Happy Birthday LA INSPIRATION! Sasha Jones, owner of LA Inspiration, started her blog in order to archive the amazing, beautifully stylish, but most importantly–inspiring–people she sees in LA. Her mission is to show people that fashion is for anyone and everyone, and you can be fashionable no matter who you are. LA Inspiration is about normal, everyday people who look absolutely fabulous!  Sasha Jones on her fashion sense, “I always kind of had my own sense of style and have always liked pushing the boundaries a bit and thinking outside of the box. After moving to LA in March of 2008 that feeling has gone into overdrive!”

Sasha is a true LA Inspiration to many.

While blogging is usually an individual personal feat for many of us, Sasha has taught me the importance of connecting — finding beauty in just about anything and sharing it with others. I feel so blessed to have met such an amazing young woman as one of my rocks here in LA.

Here is a compilation of downright fabulous photos from her party (Click the photo & it will take you directly to the originating source).

FASHION MINGA at Boulevard 3 – LAFW

This coverage is super late, I know.

Life and the month of October was crazy. Work is a hustle, but so rewarding. Halloween in SD was a freakin’ blast, as usual, with amazing, wonderful, beautiful friends and family. Thoroughly appreciated my very first Los Angeles Fashion Week(s) events! Found my new place in the west side of LA, which is, excuse me for bragging, absolutely… gorgeous. A little (or a lot) sad that I only have 2.5 weeks left living in downtown LA. These city lights will be sorely missed. Sadder that I have to pack and move again. But so unbelievably ELATED I won’t be spending almost 3 hours a day in my car! Excited to purge my closets while I pack. Met some amazing new friends here in LA. Enjoying change. Looking forward to the holidays and gaining 8 pounds (one pound per week, starting now).

Enjoying Los Angeles more and more every single day.

Without further ado, here’s part of FASHION MINGA at Boulevard 3 – LAFW – Red Carpet Coverage (pictures) and the fashion show coverage (videos). Enjoy!

I hopped on the red carpet right quick ;-)

WHAT IS FASHION MINGA?

“Minga” is an Ecuadorian term for “a community coming together to work for the benefit of all.” Fashion Minga is a collaboration of designers, performers, and tastemakers coming together to celebrate the various components that inspire fashion: music, dance, color, shape and visual elements.

I’m so sorry for the shaky video clips! I think I had one too many drinks at this point in my evening. Enjoy, regardless!

What is My Closet?

via website — My Closet, vertically integrated retailer, finally HOME in LA. FIDM graduates, mixed with made in Italy experience, in the industry since 1985, bringing back a nice environment to the Hollywood area. My Closet Italia is also a place for opportunities for everyone that has something to say. Designers at My Closet are artist that are fully integrated in every project, and MyCloset is a perfect window to launch new brands or ideas. Our word is YES, we are different from the HUGE chains with no respect for the new artists and all people with ideas. We are made of different guys and girls, gathering together to build something amazing. We are all tired of the same shopping experience without personality, we are all tired of concept stores where people are TOO COOL to serve you… we want happiness.

Here are some of the photos I snapped during the grand opening. Again, please forgive the blurriness. I’m saving for my own DSLR as a Christmas present to myself :)

Also, I will add names and hyperlinks later on tonight. I’m rushing to make my yoga class right now. Toodles!

MILA Spring / Summer 2011

Mila Hermanovski (Project Runway Season 7, top 3) Spring/Summer 2011 collection for her MILA label entitled “Rutilated”  is so my style.  Sheer. Basic. Neutral. Layerable. Big on top. Skinny on bottom. I gotta get me those 3/4 sheer leggings. Love. This collection was inspired by her fascination with mineral formations.

I think I am so in love with her because MILA’s collection is subtly dramatic and practically wearable.  The textiles are luxurious and mostly all natural, with silk, cotton and leather playing the lead roles.  Rutilated flaunts linear and graphic elements with layers of varying opacities and textures relating to the way minerals grow and how they appear in nature.

The older I get, the more I am into timeless and basic. But still unique and luxurious.

MILA SPRING SUMMER 2011

With a family tree full of artists and designers, Mila was destined to be in a creative profession. After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Apparel Design, Mila headed to New York to pursue her career in Fashion. After working for almost 8 years in various positions at Calvin Klein, a fashion trend forecasting publication, and as a visual merchandiser for upscale 5th avenue stores, Mila began dabbling in costuming films, which was intriguing enough to relocate her to Los Angeles to further that career path. Having had many exciting and challenging projects in Hollywood, Mila acquired another aspect of experience, from a styling and costuming perspective.

Recently Mila was selected from thousands of applicants to compete in Project Runway, Season 7. She earned a spot as one of the final 3, and showed a 10-look Fall 2010 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York In February. Her collection has been extremely well received by critics and potential consumers alike.

Having come full circle, Mila is returning to her roots in fashion with her eponymous collection. Mila’s philosophy is to create clothes which are unique yet timeless. She hopes that every piece will live on from season to season and be styled uniquely by its owner. The crux of Mila’s design is a graphic and modern sensibility which feels simultaneously approachable.
