Sex, Life, and Hannah Book Club at Taylrz Joynt Boutique

Check out all the pics on the FGFB

There is something to be said about good girlfriends — you gotta have them and you gotta hang out with them regularly.

Taylor of Taylr’z Joynt Boutique hosted the Sex, Life, and Hannah girls night/book club on Friday night at her boutique. Wine. Cheese. Chocolate. Fashion. Girl talk. Insane fun times just sitting around killing multiple bottles of red wine while sharing personal explorations on love and life; laughing about our horrid experiences regarding everything in between. It was therapeutic to divulge all of my recent dating skeletons, finally.

I feel like a bit of a late bloomer, being occupied from ages 20-26, and barely blooming at 27, but I guess there is a designated time for… blooming. In many ways, I feel like this is the perfect time to be living and loving LA (funny, my friend Neekoh’s blog is LIVE LOVE LA).

In other non-serious news, I’m into hats, scarves, and anything leather right now. And great girlfriends. And chocolate.

SIXHUNDRED LA

Last night, I went to SIXHUNDRED LA to celebrate LA INSPIRATION‘S one year anniversary, and can I just say, ah-may-zing. SIXHUNDRED is a high quality  fashion and accessory boutique, located in the heart of DTLA, exclusively carrying local LA designers – Laeken, Han cholo – jewelry, Bl.o – jewelry, Electric Denim Company, Love nail Tree, Cavoi, Spectacles for humans, LOADED clothing, kush collection, and even more LA talent!

Kind of in the middle of obsessed and in love.

Coverage on LA INSPIRATION‘S one year anniversary party will be coming shortly :)

What is My Closet?

via website — My Closet, vertically integrated retailer, finally HOME in LA. FIDM graduates, mixed with made in Italy experience, in the industry since 1985, bringing back a nice environment to the Hollywood area. My Closet Italia is also a place for opportunities for everyone that has something to say. Designers at My Closet are artist that are fully integrated in every project, and MyCloset is a perfect window to launch new brands or ideas. Our word is YES, we are different from the HUGE chains with no respect for the new artists and all people with ideas. We are made of different guys and girls, gathering together to build something amazing. We are all tired of the same shopping experience without personality, we are all tired of concept stores where people are TOO COOL to serve you… we want happiness.

Here are some of the photos I snapped during the grand opening. Again, please forgive the blurriness. I’m saving for my own DSLR as a Christmas present to myself :)

Also, I will add names and hyperlinks later on tonight. I’m rushing to make my yoga class right now. Toodles!

WE ARE IN RESIDENCE

Rachel Salzman and Tracey Moulton were drawn together by their love for the simple and classic aesthetic.  They fell into friendship over a conversation about the fantasy of a boutique focused on unique, comfortable, and timeless clothes. A community driven space where fashion, art and commerce collide

Tracey Moulton was born and raised in New York.  She has a background in fine art, public relations, and more recently, opening her own successful vintage clothing store in New York City called Exquisite Costume Vintage. Her love for vintage continues, but she was ready for something more relevant and contemporary. Styling eventually brought her to Los Angeles where she met Rachel.

Rachel Salzman was born and raised in Los Angeles.  With a background and passion for entrepreneurship and fashion, she grew up in a family of retailers and has been working in the business as long as she can remember.  After graduating with an MBA from USC, she had a successful career with Madewell on the West Coast before moving on to pursue In Residence with Tracey.

Their eclectic fashion paths led them to meet and In Residence was soon born; a boutique for men and women that ignites passion for old and new, and provides an experience and sense of community to those who come through the doors.

In addition to fashion for men and women, In Residence will feature emerging artists.  A gallery, if you will, that will showcase a rotating group of artists that are not represented in a ‘mainstream’ or large gallery setting. The first artist on display will be photographer Tyler Udall: www.tylerudall.com. In Residence is about undiscovered gems, raw talent, and the line between art and commerce.

Sampling of lines In Residence will carry:

The lines In Residence will be carrying are either new to LA or underrepresented, but that is, of course, what we are so excited about.

  • In Residence – In house line of luxe basics for men and women. The first collection represents four staples pieces that will become a mainstay in your wardrobe. The perfect tee, throwback sweatshirt, classic henley, and a super cozy softie. All made of %100 cotton and produced in Los Angeles.  The next collection of In Residence wardrobe essentials is already in the works.
  • Electric Feathers- Beautifully constructed and unique silk dresses and jumpers. Heavily featured at No.6 in NY and at the Montauk Surf Lodge this summer.  In Residence will feature an exclusive hand-died selection of one-of-a-kind pieces for the In Residence opening event.
  • Tenet – A new young retailer that shares the simple, clean aesthetic of In Residence.  Basics for men, such as chambray shirts, classic knits, etc. http://www.refinery29.com/the-hamptons-most-surprising-new-shop.php
  • Upstate – Amazing oversize shawls and scarves in crinkled and raw silks. Hippie-chic but wearable and fantastic. www.youreupstate.com
  • Odylyne – Feminine and easy to wear tops, trousers and dresses.  For the holidays, In Residence will feature more formal pieces from the collection: ruffles and a little bit of sparkly.
  • H. Fredriksson – Sophisticated tailoring and eco-friendly production. www.internationalplayground.com/HFAW10.html
  • Ernest Alexander - Accessories for men. Simple leather belts, chambray ties, etc. www.internationalplayground.com/ea10.html
  • Velva Sheen – A recently revived old-school basics line.  Carrying their classic tees in 2 packs for men.
  • Nina Z - clogs. www.ninaznyc.com/index.php
  • Boy Bag – Up and coming designer handbags. Chic,  and wearable with a little bit of edge. www.boyybag.com/army.html
  • Loren Stewart jewelry – opening jewelry for In Residence – www.lorenstewart.com
  • Vintage: Selection of everything from basic Levis to repurposed army backpacks, etc. Tons of handpicked dresses, jumpers, sweaters…things we have found from coast to coast in a few months of thrifting.
  • Fragrance: In Residence custom organic body oils in two easy to layer unisex fragrances

Current Obsession: Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Currently, super obsessed over Joseph Gordon-Levitt after having watched Inception three times. Three times! I remember watching him as a kid on “3rd Rock from the Sun” thinking he was a skinny weirdo with longer hair than me — and then all of a sudden, he warped into uber-HOT-sizzling-MANhood right after filming (500) Days of Summer.

I know I’m about a year late on sharing this post (as this editorial came out via GQ October 2009), but it is most definitely worth the re-post for the following reasons:

1) I never cover menswear but all of these looks are classic, so damn clean.
2) I want to dress up a really cute boy like this. It would be fun.
3) Fall/Winter is upon us again, and these looks are still relevant for 2010.
4) Low-cost & high-style labels are always desirable.
5) The guys reading should appreciate the brands/prices, and the girls reading should appreciate the hotness.

PS – H&M and Gap are my absolute FAVE looks. Excuse me, while I go faint.

Fashion’s Night Out Los Angeles: Fergie at The Grove Nordstrom

Fergie Ferg signing autographs at The Grove Friday night for Fashion's Night Out Los Angeles

I was at The Grove Friday night for Two Point Oh LA‘s Bloggers’ Café (post coming shortly), and perused on by Nordstrom about 9pm to check out all the fuss. About 300 fans were shoulder to shoulder anxiously anticipating Fergie’s arrival. Security was definitely tight. After discretely elbowing my way through the crowd and flashing my Two Point Oh LA badge at multiple security, I was able to snap this vid of the diva’s grand entrance.

So cute, two little girls next to me… “Fergie! Fergie!… Okay, yell out, ‘We love you, Fergie’…”

Among so many celebs coming out with their own label, FERGIE FOOTWEAR is all about fun, funky style inspired by her rock star attitude. Definitely appealing to young tweens and teens, ages 12-18; and funky rockers of all ages. Here’s her new boot collection online… yikes… is it really time for boots already? Yes, and I need a new pair of over-the-knees (Women’s Carley) and wedges (Women’s Fallen). :)
